 A proxy is used to store recently visited websites on our server. The idea is similar to the cache on your computer that stores recently visited websites. We have installed a six gigabyte hard drive to store websites that our customers visit. This is a benefit to our customers because many popular websites will now be stored on our server making it unnecessary to connect to a distant, and possibly slow, server. The proxy server is smart enough to check these websites to see if any changes are made and update the files on the server. Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 doesn't have the capability to use the automatic proxy configuration. It is highly recommended that you upgrade your browser. |

Click on "Edit" and then click on "Preferences...".
Click on "Options" and then click on "Network Preferences...". Click on the "Proxies" tab. Select Automatic proxy configuration and type http://www.1000island.net/autoproxy.pac

Click on "View" and then click on "Internet Options...". Click on the "Connection" tab and select "Configure" and type http://www.1000island.net/autoproxy.pac then click "OK", click "Apply" and then click "OK" once again and you are setup to take advantage of the proxy server.
Click on "View" and then click on "Options...". Click on the "Connection" tab and select "Connect through a proxy server". Click on the "Settings..." button and you will presented with a screen similar to the one below. Make the necessary changes and then click "OK", click "Apply" and then click "OK" once again and you are setup to take advantage of the proxy server.
